Key West Deep Sea Fishing Charters

What Is deep sea fishing? Call it Offshore fishing, Blue Water fishing or Deep Sea fishing. Those terms all mean pretty much the same thing. Fishing out past our barrier reef from 25 ft to sometimes 3000 ft of water. We use 6 passenger charter boats ranging in size from 38 – 55 ft. These boats are called “Sport fishing boats”. They are crewed by a captain and one mate. We are in the hunt for a numerous number Palegic species of fish and sometimes bottom fish. Trolling is the most common method of deep sea fishing. We also employ the use of kites for kite fishing with live bait and Bottom fishing rods and reels for deep dropping and some wreck fishing. Deep sea fishing is being in the open ocean while fishing.

Where Do We Deep Sea Fish?

Just 5 miles South of Key West is the largest living coral reef in the Northern Hemisphere. Just past the reef is what is called the Florida Straights. This is the body of water between Key West and Cuba that is just 90 miles to our South. Within that body of water there is a current that comes form the Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean. This current runs from West to East wrapping around the tip of Florida before heading up the Eastern Seaboard. The current is called the Gulf Stream. This current brings us trophy Palegic fish such as Mahi, Sailfish, wahoo, tuna and marlins. We fish in this area when we are deep sea fishing.
