Fishing Report May 10th 2026

Fishing report, Key West

Fishing report for May 10, 2026 has lots of Sargasm weed offshore in our key west fishing report. Yep, loads of weed, not in a line, but all over the place. Making our fishing very difficult trolling, and what should be our best month for large Mahi Mahi. The weather has been very cooperative with lights east to Southeast winds, and no rain yet. Many of our regulars are here in town to take advantage of the good deep sea fishing. We typically have in May.

Fishing Report

The larger mahi-mahi have seem to shown up here in May as tradition would suggest. The Weed has been the best place for us to look for the larger dolphin. The key to the numbers of fish being caught, have been the junk floating down through the Gulfstream, whiteboards pallets parts of boats any number of things that stay on the surface that causes shadow draw bait and attract fish. Dolphin fish from 12 to 40 pounds have been caught in the last week.

In addition to the mahi-mahi a consistent bite of wahoo has also kept the attention of many anglers. Again, they are found in the weeds as well. The planer guys are doing well here.

Key West. Fishing report, wahoo.

Some of our best fishing has been done between 300, and 500 feet. On board the INXS we are very fortunate that first mate Garrett is willing to shag the weed off those baits to get the bite all day long. It’s a lot of work but extremely important to our success out there fishing in the weed keeping the baits clean is critical. Of course, when we find something floating, it’s game on a great way to really compound on our catch.

Fishing Forecast

I believe the weed will continue to be thick. The southeast winds seem to line it up a little bit better out in the current of the Gulfstream that runs between one and 2 knots. I would not be surprised if the dolphin Fish and gets really good in the next couple of weeks. Especially looking at the long range forecast with excellent weather in store.  There are a lot of small dolphin around which means that the opportunity for blue marlin fishing is pretty strong, especially coming up on the next full moon which is May 31st.
