June Dolphin Mahi Fishing Is Good

Mahi mahi dolphin fish

June 21st 2024 – Finally the weather has come around to be more “summer” like with less winds and rain in the forecast so we can keep up with the great Mahi mahi and dolphin fishing as per usual here in Key West.

Fishing Report

The last few weeks have been spot on for great mahi dolphin fishing. We were really doing will al the way through the weather catching good numbers of decent size dolphin right here off of Key West. Dolphin as large as 18lbs  with bags up to 15 – 20 fish have been pretty common. Smaller undersized dolphin have been caught but bumping up our bait sizes and a little faster trolling speeds has really helped getting the larger fish to come and eat.

Mahi mahi dolphin fishing report
A nice catch of decent sized dolphin in June on board the INXS.

I can say that this year has been pretty good for the size and quantity of dolphin being caught on board our Key West deep sea fishing charters here on the “INXS”. Better than years past for sure. I think the whole fleet of deep sea fishing charters here in Key West can all agree to that.

As a bonus we are also still having fun catching Kingfish, barracudas and some blackfin tunas just out past the reef on the regular to put together a mixed bag of different species for our anglers.

The big deal and as and added bonus we have hooked our 4th blue marlin of the season this past week and the first time we have ever hooked one in back to back trips. There have been a good number of blue marlin hooked this year on Key West deep sea fishing charters. More than usual and we are all super excited about that. I will be looking forward to seeing how the Key West Marlin tournament goes and the number of fish they release.

Deep Sea Fishing Forecast

The long range forecast today has the winds coming down and the skies clearing for summer like conditions through the period. Today is the full moon which can enhance the blue marlin possibilities so I will be on the lookout for them through the beginning of next week. The Gulf Stream is located off the reef a good ways but we will still be catching Mahi mahi dolphin out just past the reef with the potential of other species such as blackfin tunas, wahoo and bonito.
